Setting up Your Dial-up Internet Connection on Windows XP

To set up your dialup connection from scratch, click the Start Button in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Next, go to Control Panel. It will look something like this:

Click the Network connections icon and on the left of that window, click Create a New Connection. This will start the New Connection Wizard.

Click Next.

On the screen below, make sure you have checked the button called Connect to the Internet. Then click Next. Then in the next window, make sure that the Set up my connection manually button is clicked. Then click Next.

Here, click Connect using a dial up modem and then click next.

On the next screen, type a name for your connection - such as Mechcom and click Next.

Here, type in the access number given to you from Mechcom for your dialup.

Click Next.

Here, under username type in your full email address. This is in the format

Click Finish and you will see the next screen, where you can test your connection. Click the Dial button to connect to Mechcom.
